A Ductless Heat Pump (DHP) heating and cooling system is a highly efficient system that is easily installed as a new primary heat source. DHP systems can heat and cool homes at a fraction of the cost of electric resistance heaters and they are much safer, quieter, and heat rooms evenly (no more hot or cool spots!).
What Financial Incentives Are Available for Ductless Heat Pumps?
CEC is offering co-op members a rebate when installed in existing, and recently constructed, single family homes (site-built or manufactured) with electric resistance heating. Electric resistance heat includes: electric furnaces, baseboards, wall heaters, and plug in electric heaters. New homes must have permanently installed electric resistance heating. Homes with a gas furnace or heat pump serving the same area where the ductless heat pump will be installed do not qualify. ADUs where the main heating system in the home does not reach those areas can also qualify for a ductless heat pump rebate as long as it has electric resistance heating.
For DHPs in homes with existing ducted (electric furnace) electric heating: $1,500
For DHPs in homes with existing zonal (wall or baseboard) heating: $700

How to Get Started:
The ductless heat pump must be installed by a licensed contractor and the equipment must be AHRI certified.
- Get some installation estimates from a few HVAC contractors. Tell the contractors you want to participate in CEC’s rebate program and have that noted on your proposal. This will ensure that they install it according to CEC specifications.
- Once you have selected you contractor and the unit is installed you will provide CEC with a completed rebate form, a copy of the AHRI certificate for the ductless heat pump, a copy of the county permit, and provide us a copy of the invoice. Pictures of the installation are also required.
- A CEC representative will review the information packet and potentially set up an inspection visit to ensure the unit is installed properly.
- If any issues are found during an inspection of the paperwork or the installation a CEC representative will let you know what needs correction before the rebate is paid.
- Once the installation and paperwork are in order CEC will send you a check.
Please note: Programs are subject to change without notice. Rebates $250 and under will be credited to a member’s bill. If there are any past due balances owed to CEC rebates will be credited to member’s account. Applicant certifies that they are not excluded, disqualified, or debarred from receiving federal assistance and are not on the Federal Suspension and Debarment list.
