Smart Thermostat

Heating and cooling consume the greatest amount of energy in a house. Smart thermostats provide an affordable and easy way for members to control the use of their heating and cooling system and lower the costs of their electric bills using features such as:

• Occupancy and/or proximity sensors that can tell if a person has been away to reduce/save energy, when they are not at home.
• Learning algorithms that avoid the need to program a set schedule.
• Ability for homeowners to control the heating and cooling system remotely through apps on their phones or tablets (especially valuable for homeowners with second homes).
• Feedback notifications on the energy saving potential of your thermostat set point and other efficient settings.

CEC offers an incentive of $140 for qualifying thermostats which must be installed in a home with an electric furnace only. Homes heated with gas or heat pumps do not qualify. Thermostats receiving the rebate must complete the rebate form and include a copy of the purchase receipt. Limit of 1 thermostat per HVAC system with a maximum of 2 per house. Purchased thermostats must be bought new, unused and not from a reseller.

If there are any past due balances owed to CEC rebates will be credited to member’s account. Applicant certifies that they are not excluded, disqualified, or debarred from receiving federal assistance and are not on the Federal Suspension and Debarment list.
