From 1998 through 2015, the CEC member contributions to the Green Power program were dedicated exclusively to the Coffin Butte landfill gas-to-electricity plant in Benton County.  Now CEC Green Power premiums  also support the construction, operation, maintenance and future expansion of the co-op’s 200,000-watt community solar project on SE 27th St. in Bend.

The solar project connected to CEC’s distribution system in January 2016. This local source of renewable, carbon emission-free electricity is the first fully-owned and operated electricity generation project in Central Electric Co-op history.

This environmentally friendly source of energy, Green Power, is available to all CEC members. Your Green Power dollars are essential to the solar plant’s operation today and its future expansion.

To participate in the Green Power program, CEC members agree to purchase at least one 100 kilowatt-hour block per month over a 12-month contract. The price will be 1.8 cents per kilowatt-hour more than the regular rate. The contracts are renewable.

So, if you sign up for 300 kilowatt-hours of Green Power every month, your electric bill will increase only $5.40.

It’s a small price to pay to reduce the use of carbon-emitting energy sources.

Visit the following link and fill out the contract. You can begin buying Green Power approximately 30 days later. We will confirm your registration via email within 1 to 2 business days.
