Lineworker Scholarship
PrintWhat is the Lineworker College Scholarship Program?
Central Electric Cooperative is pleased to announce its support to an individual interested in pursuing a career in the electrical linework field by awarding a scholarship to an accredited Line College of the recipient’s choice.
How Much is the Scholarship?
Central Electric will award one $5,000 scholarship. Upon selection and official enrollment to an accredited Line College program, scholarship checks will be paid directly to the school.
Who is Eligible to Receive the Scholarship?
Central Electric’s scholarship program is available for members and/or applicants whose parent or guardian is an active member, in good standing, with Central Electric Cooperative. Applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of enrollment in a Line College program, and be a high school graduate by the summer of 2023 or hold a GED.
How Are the Recipients Selected?
The scholarship is based on academic record, work experience, participation in school, and community activities. Interested applicants must submit the following:
- An official copy of your high school transcripts or GED;
- Two professional letters of reference;
- And, an essay describing in 400 words or less on why you are a good candidate for the lineworkers program, why you are interested in this type of work, and what special skills you bring to the job.
What Are the Recipient’s Obligations?
Except for the requirements outlined above, no obligations will be imposed upon the student as a scholarship award winner. Scholarship recipients are not required to work at Central Electric Cooperative following their training, nor does Central Electric guarantee positions. Other than payment of the scholarship, Central Electric assumes no obligations or liability.
Deadline for Application:
The deadline to apply is Friday, May 24, 2024. Applicants may submit the required information by U.S. mail, an email to cecmemberservices@cec.coop, or in-person at CEC’s headquarters located at 2098 NW 6th Street, P.O. Box 846, Redmond, Oregon 97756.
